 Grupo SALTO is a non-profit organization dedicated to provide support for families who have children within the Autism spectrum and whose primary language is Spanish. The main focus of the group is to provide training, education, and support for parents. Grupo SALTO welcomes families from Chicago and its suburbs. Grupo SALTO is supported by the Hispanic Program, Family Clinics, Department of Disability And Human Development, University of Illinois at Chicago. Grupos SALTO meets once a month. During the meetings, child care is available or children may sign up to participate in the art, music and dance programs while parents attend the educational portion of the activities. A social skills group also meets each month for adolescents and teenagers with Autism. Sibling meetings are also available. Educational meetings include the dissemination of best practices information in the field of autism, as well as information of resources needed to successfully raise children with Autism Grupo SALTO es una organizacion sin fines de lucro dedicada a familias que tienen hijos dentro del espectro del autismo y cuyo lenguage primario es el Espanol. El enfoque principal de Grupo SALTO es el de proveer entrenamiento, educacion y apoyo para padres. Grupo SALTO da la bienvenida a familias de Chicago y suburbios. El programa cuenta con los aupicios del grupo Hispano de Las Clinicas Familiares del Departamento de Discapacidad y Desarrollo Humano de la Universidad de Illinois en Chicago. El grupo se reune una vez al mes y brinda cuidado de ninos junto a un programa de Arte que incluye danza, musica y pintura, permitiendo a los padres asistir a las actividades educativas. Tambien se reunen un grupo de adaptacion social y transicion al colegio para adolescentes y jovenes con autismo, asi como un grupo para situaciones especificas para sus hermanos. Las reuniones educativas incluyen diseminacion informativa sobre el autismo, asi como la de recursos necesarios para dirigir a los ninos con autismo exitosamente | |
